Sen. Leroy Stumpf (DFL-Plummer)
A top lawmaker says he’s optimistic the Minnesota Legislature will agree on a bonding bill for state construction projects before tomorrow’s midnight deadline. Plummer Democrat Leroy Stumpf says even though “it may be a difficult course getting to some agreement,… if you step in the shoes of a legislator, they want to have something to go back home with, and we have had requests for help from just about every corner and every part of the state.” Senate negotiators dropped their bonding number earlier today but Republicans and Democrats still remain about 600 million dollars apart, with a push for road and bridge funding complicating the negotiations.
