Rep. Jim Knoblach (R-St. Cloud)
Minnesota House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jim Knoblach is proposing that funding be restored for the state Human Rights Department office in Saint Cloud. Governor Mark Dayton brought up the issue this morning (Thurs), and Denise Fale (FAH-lee) with the Saint Cloud N-Double-A-C-P says the office is “greatly needed.” Fale says “there’s a tremendous amount of racial barriers out there and discrimination, not only in housing but also employment.” The governor said the issue is “right on the shoulders” of Representative Knoblach. Knoblach responds Senate Democrats last year watered down his amendment to restore funding for the state Human Rights Department office in Saint Cloud.
