Top lawmaker says no long-term transportation package this session

May 22, 2016 By Bill Werner

Sen. Scott Dibble (DFL-Mpls)

No long-term transportation funding package this session, says one of its chief advocates, Minneapolis Senator Scott Dibble.  He says it’s “pretty apparent that we’re not going to be able to pass a long-term, sustainable, comprehensive transportation [bill] that really does much to improve the economy and the lives of Minnesotans.”  Dibble adds it would be a mistake for the legislature to approve one-time money for transportation and he would not support that approach. Dibble’s comments come with only hours remaining before the legislature’s midnight deadline. It’s unclear whether road and bridge money will be in a bonding bill, which is still up in the air as the clock ticks down.
