The high cost of prescription drugs is the topic at this morning’s (9am) forum in Bloomington hosted by Senator Tina Smith, Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, Governor Tim Walz, and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. Governor Walz has met continued resistance from Republicans as he pushes for a statewide insulin assistance program and says the attitude “feels the same. Feels the same to me, and… my commitment has not wavered a bit on this, and here we are again.”
But House Republican leader Kurt Daudt points to Thursday’s announcement by Blue Cross/Blue Shield that members will have *no* co-pay for insulin beginning January 1st. It follows earlier action by Medica and UCare to cap monthly out-of-pocket costs for insulin at 25 dollars. But Daudt says Democrats continue pushing a plan that would raise insulin costs by surcharging manufacturers.
