How soon will Minnesotans be getting extra unemployment benefits that Congress approved in its massive COVID-19 stimulus package? Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove says, “We’re being told a matter of days on the 600 bucks. In terms of the extending the benefits to broader cross-section of workers who aren’t covered by U-I [unemployment insurance], we’re being told a matter of weeks there.”
Grove says the state is waiting for guidance from the federal government on how to compute benefits for workers who have not previously made an unemployment insurance claim.
