It was a quiet weekend at the Minnesota State Capitol with a large security presence and only a handful of demonstrators showing up Saturday and Sunday — despite more ominous protests elsewhere around the country. State Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington has pledged, “We will keep the peace in the days that lead up to the inauguration in D-C, and we are prepared to keep the peace as long as it takes…. There is no end-date on keeping the peace. We will be there as long as it takes.”
Harrington said Friday an earlier F-B-I report warning of potential violence at the Minnesota State Capitol this past weekend was “pretty dated material” and circumstances had changed. But Harrington said officials would continue “turning over every rock and looking under every bush to see if there is anything else out there.”
