Governor Mark Dayton says his bonding proposal would create nearly 23-thousand jobs in Minnesota, but a leading Republican lawmaker questions whether that’s accurate. Rochester Senator Dave Senjem contends there needs to be better accounting of how many jobs in construction and other fields that state bonding projects actually create. He says, “We know to some extent these bonding bills do create jobs — I’m not denying that — but what kind of job numbers really do they create?” Senjem says the 2012 Legislature required the administration to report actual job creation numbers from bonding bills, but he hasn’t seen anything.
