Top leaders at the State Capitol are weighing in on Donald Trump now being the presumptive Republican nominee for president. House Speaker, Republican Kurt Daudt won’t say whether he will support Trump, adding “I have not gotten vocal about who I support or don’t support in the presidential race since [Wisconsin Governor] Scott Walker got out of the race.” But House Republican Majority Leader Joyce Peppin says, “Donald Trump was not my first choice. I actually supported Marco Rubio…. My preference would have been Cruz, had I had a choice, but certainly we have work to do.” Across the political aisle, Democratic Governor Mark Dayton says he doesn’t underestimate Trump. “He’s been underestimated throughout this process by people who have done so to their peril. He’s obviously very serious in his intent to become president of the United States,” says Dayton.
