Sen. David Hann (R-Eden Prairie)
The debate over transportation funding remains stalemated at the Minnesota Capitol after the Democrat-controlled Senate passed its major budget bill yesterday. Republicans proposed using part or all of the budget surplus for transportation, Minority Leader David Hann saying as far as they know, “there is no plan from the Democrats on how we’re gonna deal with transportation.” The plan Democrats *have* proposed — a gas tax increase — Republicans say they no way will support. Senate Tax Committee Chair, Clearbrook Democrat Rod Skoe (SKOY) argues without it, “you’re gonna continually face the Hobson’s dilemma of what are you gonna fund: transportation or schools, or transportation or long-term care.”
