As Donald Trump turns up pressure on Hillary Clinton over rising health insurance costs, Republicans and Democrats at the state legislature are wrangling with the same issue. Governor Mark Dayton renewed his call Tuesday for legislative leaders to agree on a plan to address short-term the spike in health insurance premiums, so he can call a special session. House Democratic Minority Leader Paul Thissen said, “I don’t know if we’re gonna be able to convince Republicans…. I think that they think that they can use this as a hammer against Democrats through Election Day, and don’t really want to solve the problem.” Republican leaders didn’t comment, but House Speaker Kurt Daudt said last week the problem is with Obamacare and MNsure.
