There are still few details about the death of Justine Damond. The 40-year old woman died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen late Saturday after calling 9-1-1 about a possible assault near her home. Witnesses say the only people at the scene were two Minneapolis Police officers and her death has been ruled a homicide. Her fiancee, Don Damond gave a brief statement on Monday. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says it will have more information after the officers who were at the scene are interviewed.
A teen found dead early Monday morning along a road north of the metro has been identified. Reports say 17-year old Mohanned Abukhdeir of Fridley had been shot and authorities are treating his death as a homicide.
“Sweltering” is one way to describe Monday’s weather around Minnesota. The highest temperature recorded by the National Weather Service was 100-degrees northeast of St. Paul in Lake Elmo. Northfield, Morris and Carver all hit 99, while numerous other locations in the lower half of the state broke the 95-degree mark.
Back home at Target Field last night. Pinch hitter Eduardo Escobar singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Twins went on to beat the New York Yankees 4-2. Taylor Rogers earned his fifth win out of the pen and Brandon Kintzler nailed it down with his 26th save. Game two of the set is tonight at 7:10 P-M in Minneapolis.
