The Minnesota Twins announced they have returned outfielder Matt Wallner from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day Injured List.
Wallner, who has missed the club’s last 38 games with a left hamstring strain, played in six rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul, hitting .320 (8-for-25) with one double, five home runs, 13 RBI, two walks and a 1.330 OPS. Prior to landing on the Injured List, Wallner hit .263 (15-for-57) with five doubles, two triples, one home run, three RBI, nine walks, seven runs scored and an .847 OPS in 18 games for the Twins this season.
To make room for Wallner on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to St. Paul. Keirsey Jr. played in 45 games for the Twins this season, going 7-for-64 (.109) with one home run, four RBI, six runs scored and five stolen bases.
