The Minnesota Twins announced that they have claimed infielder Vidal Bruján from the Atlanta Braves.
Bruján, 27, played in 61 major league games last season between the Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves, hitting .253 (22-for-87) with five doubles, eight RBI, 14 runs scored, six walks and a .305 on-base percentage. The switch hitter has hit .199 (116-for-584) with 26 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 48 RBI, 76 runs scored, 16 stolen bases and a .267 on-base percentage in 262 career major league games for the Tampa Bay Rays (2021-23), Miami Marlins (2024), Cubs (2025), Orioles (2025) and Braves (2025). The San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic native has played 84 career games at second base, 56 games at shortstop, 36 games at third base, 41 games in rightfield, 17 games in centerfield, 10 games in leftfield and one game at first base.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Bruján, the Twins have designated utility player Mickey Gasper for release or assignment. Gapser played in 45 games for the Twins last season, hitting .158 (15-for-95) with one double, two home runs, 11 RBI, 15 runs scored and 10 walks.
