Twins Beat Royals But Suffer Injuries

May 29, 2022 By kevin.falness@mnnradio.com

(Minneapolis, MN)  —  The Twins beat the Royals but the win came at a cost of more injuries.  Starting pitcher Sonny Gray left the game with “minor pec tightness” and was scheduled to get an M-R-I to see what his prognosis is.  Gray left in the 7th inning with a big lead and the Twins held on for the win to split the four game series with the Royals at 2-2.  Royals starter Zack Greinke also left the game early after giving up five runs including a three run shot to Gio Urshela’s in the 3rd inning.   Prior to the game the Twins called up Royce Lewis to make the start in center field.  But he left after crashing hard into the wall to make a catch in the 3rd inning.  Lewis, 22, was down for a while and was replaced before the next inning due to right knee pain. He missed last season after A-C-L surgery on his right knee. Baldelli said Lewis was also getting an M-R-I and is likely bound for a stint on the injured list.
