The Minnesota Twins announced that they have claimed right-handed pitcher Jackson Kowar off waivers from the Seattle Mariners.
Kowar, 29, appeared in 15 games for the Mariners last season, going 2-0 with a 4.24 ERA (17.0 IP, 8 ER), seven walks, 15 strikeouts and a .222 opponent batting average. He also appeared in 16 games for Triple-A Tacoma last season, going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA (14.0 IP, 4 ER), 10 walks, 15 strikeouts and a .173 opponent batting average. The Weddington, North Carolina native was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the first round (33rd overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Florida and has pitched in parts of four major league seasons with the Royals (2021-23) and Mariners (2025) going 4-6 with an 8.21 ERA (91.0 IP, 83 ER), three holds, 58 walks and 90 strikeouts.
The Twins 40-man roster is now at 40.
