The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have completed the 2025 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, selecting 17 additional players on the second and final day. In all, the Twins selected 21 total players, including: 12 right-handed pitchers, one left-handed pitcher, six infielders and one outfielder. The Twins also selected two players out of high school and 19 out of college.

JULY 13, 2025

1 (16) Marek Houston SS R/R 6’3″ 205 4/14/04 Nokomis, FL Wake Forest Dawson
Houston, 21, hit .354 (86-for-243) with 14 doubles, 15 home runs, 66 RBI, 46 walks, 19 stolen bases, 61 runs scored, a .458 on-base percentage and a 1.055 OPS in 61 games for the Demon Deacons in 2025, leading the team in hits, runs scored, home runs, RBI and total bases (145), while ranking tied for second in doubles and third in OPS. Over three seasons at Wake Forest, Houston hit .302 (206-for-682) with 35 doubles, two triples, 27 home runs, 134 RBI, 118 walks, 27 stolen bases, 156 runs scored, a .409 on-base percentage and an .887 OPS.

CB-A (36) Riley Quick RHP R/R 6’6” 255 4/29/04 Trussville, AL Alabama Hughes
Quick, 21, went 8-3 with a 3.92 ERA (62.0 IP, 27 ER), 24 walks and 70 strikeouts in a team-high-tying 14 starts for Alabama in 2025; after missing most of the 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery, he returned in time for the 2025 season opener. He also earned Second Team All-SEC honors as a starting pitcher, ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region Second Team honors and a spot on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll last season. The Trussville, AL native went 10-4 with a 3.72 ERA (87.0 IP, 36 ER), 46 walks and 101 strikeouts in 31 games (15 starts) over parts of three seasons at Alabama.

2 (54) Quentin Young SS R/R 6’6” 225 3/2/07 Camarillo, CA Oaks Christian HS (CA) Tashjian
Young, 18, hit .381 (32-for-84) with four doubles, 14 home runs, 34 RBI, 32 runs scored, 31 walks, a .555 on-base percentage and a 1.483 OPS in 29 games last season. He also played for USA Baseball’s U18 team in the World Baseball Softball Confederation Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier in 2024. Young is the nephew of former major leaguers Dmitri Young and Delmon Young, who played for the Twins from 2008-11.

3 (88) James Ellwanger RHP R/R 6’4” 205 5/15/04 Magnolia, TX Dallas Baptist Brown
Ellwanger, 21, went 4-2 with a 3.98 ERA (63.1 IP, 28 ER), 39 walks and 95 strikeouts in 16 games (14 starts) for Dallas Baptist in 2025, leading Conference USA in strikeouts and ranking eighth in the nation by averaging 13.55 strikeouts-per-nine innings.

4 (119) Jason Reitz RHP R/R 6’11” 215 7/23/04 San Jose, CA Oregon Burrows
Reitz, 20, went 5-1 with a 3.50 ERA (64.1 IP, 25 ER), 29 walks, 73 strikeouts, a 1.22 WHIP and a .217 opponent batting average in 16 games (11 starts) for the University of Oregon last season. He ranked second on the Ducks in strikeouts and was third in starts and innings pitched. Reitz spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career a St. Mary’s University (CA) from 2023-24 before transferring to Oregon.

5 (149) Matt Barr RHP R/R 6’6″ 195 1/16/06 Buffalo, NY SUNY Niagara CC Venuto
Barr, 19, went 10-0 with a 1.74 ERA, 94 strikeouts and a 0.75 WHIP in 10 starts spanning 57.0 innings for SUNY Niagara in his most recent season. He ranked tied for second among all NJCAA Division III pitchers in wins and was fourth in strikeouts and ERA. Barr is just the second Thunderwolves player to be selected in the first five rounds of the draft.

6 (179) Bruin Agbayani SS L/R 6’2″ 185 3/26/07 Honolulu, HI Saint Louis School (HI) Leavitt
Agbayani, 18, hit .365 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 22 runs scored, a .512 on-base percentage and a 1.242 OPS for the Saint Louis School Crusaders last season. He was named the 2024-25 Hawai’i Gatorade Player of the Year and led Saint Louis School to the Division I State Championship, earning Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors for a team coached by his dad. Agbayani is the son of Benny Agbayani, who played for the New York Mets (1998-2001), Colorado Rockies (2002) and Boston Red Sox (2002) over his five-year major league career.

7 (209) Jacob McCombs OF L/R 6’2″ 200 7/7/04 Fontana, CA UC Irvine Leavitt
McCombs, 21, hit .352 (81-for-230) with 16 doubles, five triples, 13 home runs, 54 RBI, 11 walks, 61 runs scored and a 1.081 OPS in 58 games for the University of California, Irvine in 2025, striking out just 31 times in 270 plate appearances (8.71 PA/K ratio). The first-generation college student played one season at San Diego State in 2024 before transferring to UC Irvine.

8 (239) Ryan Sprock 3B R/R 5’10” 205 9/27/04 Morristown, NJ Elon University Dawson
Sprock, 20, hit .321 (71-for-221) with 16 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, 50 RBI, three stolen bases, 32 walks, 62 runs scored, a .411 on-base percentage and a 1.003 OPS in 57 games for Elon University last season, leading the team in hits, doubles, home runs, slugging percentage (.593), OPS and total bases (131). The Morristown, NJ native was named a 2025 All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention and played three seasons for the Phoenix, hitting .312 (171-for-548) with 35 doubles, two triples, 30 home runs, 130 RBI, three stolen bases, 89 walks, 121 runs scored, a .411 on-base percentage and a .958 OPS in 161 games.

9 (269) Justin Mitrovich RHP R/R 6’0″ 200 10/27/03 Yardley, PA Elon University Dawson
Mitrovich, 21, went 6-4 with a 4.23 ERA (89.1 IP, 42 ER), 35 walks, 81 strikeouts, one complete game and a .223 opponent batting average in 15 starts for Elon University in 2025. He was named Preseason All-CAA in both 2024 and 2025, and in 2024 his 96 strikeouts ranked second in the CAA. Mitrovich is also roommates with the Twins’ eighth round selection Ryan Sprock.

10 (299) Shai Robinson SS R/R 6’1″ 195 5/12/04 Chicago, IL Illinois State Bisenius
Robinson, 21, hit .269 (56-for-208) with eight doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 45 RBI, 48 walks, 50 runs scored, a .408 on-base percentage and an .869 OPS in 54 games for Illinois State University in 2025, in which he was named All-MVC Team Honorable Mention. He was also a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts, and ranked second on the Redbirds in walks and third in home runs. Illinois State’s primary shortstop last season, Robinson posted a .934 fielding percentage with 122 assists and turned 27 double plays.
