Mauer homered in first inning

(Baltimore, MD)  —  Baltimore second baseman Jonathan Schoop (SKOPE) singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Orioles rallied past the Minnesota Twins last night at Camden Yards, 4-2.  Manny Machado and Joey Rickard (RICK-erd) both homered for the O’s, who swept the three-game series.  Ubaldo Jimenez (oo-BAHL-doh hih-MEHN-ehz) struck out nine, while giving up two runs, one earned, in seven innings for the win.  Darren O’Day closed it out for his first save.  Joe Mauer homered and Byron Buxton plated the other run for Minnesota, who held a 2-0 lead after two innings.  Phil Hughes permitted three runs in six-plus frames for the loss.  Minnesota visits Kansas City for a three-game series beginning tonight.
