Rays 2, Twins 1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Jake Odorizzi took a no-hitter into the seventh inning while pitching Tampa Bay to victory over Minnesota.
Odorizzi (8-7) retired the first 12 batters he faced and 18 of 19 before Joe Mauer ripped a single to center field to break up the no-hitter with one out in the seventh. Lucas Duda hit a solo home run and an RBI double to provide the scoring for the Rays.
In the ninth, Tampa Bay closer Alex Colome gave up a solo home run to Robbie Grossman to cut the lead in half. Colome then earned his major-league-high 42nd save by getting Eddie Rosario to ground into a double play to end the game.
