The Minnesota Twins announced that they have placed right-handed pitcher David Festa on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to July 22) with right shoulder inflammation.
Festa has gone 3-4 with a 5.40 ERA (53.1 IP, 32 ER), 19 walks, 53 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP in 11 appearances (10 starts) for the Twins this season, including 2-2 with a 4.03 ERA (22.1 IP, 10 ER) in his last four starts. He most recently took the loss on Monday at Dodger Stadium, allowing four runs on four hits (3 HR), with one walk and five strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
To replace Festa on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Travis Adams from Triple-A St. Paul. This is Adams’ third stint with the Twins this season, including making his major league debut on July 5 vs. Tampa Bay; has gone 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 6 ER), one walk and six strikeouts in three relief appearances across his two prior stints.
