The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Kody Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul.
Funderburk, 27, posted a 1.13 ERA (8.0 IP, 1 ER) with four walks, 14 strikeouts, a .111 (3-for-27) opponent batting average and a 0.88 WHIP in seven relief appearances for the Saints from May 30-June 19. This is his third stint with the Twins this season, after previously being with the club from Opening Day-May 1 and May 3-26. Funderburk appeared in 19 games for the Twins earlier this season, going 1-0 with a 5.18 ERA (24.1 IP, 14 ER), 12 walks and 23 strikeouts.
To make room for Funderburk on the club’s 26-man roster, the Twins have designated righthanded pitcher Jay Jackson for release or assignment. Jackson allowed five runs in 4.0 innings (11.25 ERA), with one walk and six strikeouts in three appearances during his most recent stint with the Twins.
