ARLINGTON, TX – The Minnesota Twins announced Thursday that they have placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day Injured List with right hip inflammation (retroactive to August 13).

Buxton, who exited Monday night’s game against the Royals with the injury, has played in 90 games for the Twins this season, hitting .275 (84-for-305) with 23 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 49 RBI, a .334 on-base percentage, a .528 slugging percentage and an .862 OPS.

To replace Buxton on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled infielder Edouard Julien from Triple-A St. Paul. Julien, who will be making his third stint with the Twins this season, hit .263 (15-for-57) with six doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, 10 runs scored, 11 walks and a .382 on-base percentage in 14 games during his most recent stint at St. Paul from July 28-August 14.

Additionally, the Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Louie Varland to St. Paul after his start yesterday afternoon against the Royals. To replace Varland on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Ronny Henriquez from St. Paul. Henriquez, who will be making his fourth stint with the Twins this season, has appeared in three games for Minnesota in 2024, combining to pitch 3.1 scoreless innings with two hits allowed, one walk and three strikeouts. Recently, the 24-year-old allowed three runs on 11 hits in 10.1 innings pitched (2.61 ERA), with four walks and 13 strikeouts in his last six games (2 starts) for the Saints, since July 25.
