The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Alan Roden on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to August 15) with a left thumb sprain.
Roden, who was acquired from Toronto at the trade deadline, played in 12 games for the Twins, hitting .158 (6-for-38) with one double, one home run, one RBI, one stolen base (the first of his career) and five runs scored.
To replace Roden on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A St. Paul. Outman, 28, was acquired from Los Angeles-NL at the trade deadline and played in 12 games for the Saints, hitting .235 (12-for-51) with two doubles, one triple, three home runs, 10 RBI, three stolen bases, nine runs scored and an .806 OPS. The Redwood City, California native was selected by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Sacramento State and has played in parts of four major league seasons with Los Angeles (2022-25), hitting .224 (150-for-671) with 23 doubles, three triples, 30 home runs, 88 RBI, 90 walks, 18 stolen bases, 112 runs scored and a .730 OPS in 230 games.
Outman will be in uniform for tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers, looking to make his Twins debut and will wear uniform number 43.
