The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak.
Dobnak made four relief appearances for the Twins from July 31-August 11, posting a 5.87 ERA (7.2 IP, 5 ER) with five walks and seven strikeouts. The 29-year-old went 12-7, 4.25 ERA (133.1 IP, 63 ER) with 63 walks and134 strikeouts in 28 games (24 starts) for Triple-A St. Paul this season.
To make room for Dobnak on the 28-man and 40-man rosters, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Diego Castillo for release or assignment. Castillo, who pitched last night vs. Baltimore, appeared in seven games over three stints with the Twins this season, posting a 2.70 ERA (10.0 IP, 3 ER) with eight walks and six strikeouts.
