The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Matt Mikulski in a trade with the Houston Astros, in exchange for infielder Carlos Correa and cash.

Mikulski, 26, has split the 2025 season between the Florida Complex League Astros and High-A Asheville, appearing in 12 games, allowing 13 earned runs on 18 hits in 15.1 innings pitched, with 15 walks and 18 strikeouts. The Mohegan Lake, New York native was originally selected by the San Francisco Giants in the second round (50th overall) of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Fordham University and has appeared in 108 career minor league games (29 starts) in the Giants and Astros organizations, striking out 245 batters in 225.2 innings pitched.

Correa, 30, played in 93 games for the Twins this season, hitting .267 (90-for-337) with 19 doubles, seven home runs, 31 RBI, 40 runs scored, 26 walks, a .319 on-base percentage and a .704 OPS. Correa spent parts of four seasons with Minnesota, since 2022, hitting .271 (459-for-1692) with 92 doubles, five triples, 61 home runs, 214 RBI, 225 runs scored, 186 walks, a .345 on-base percentage, a .440 slugging percentage and a .784 OPS in 450 regular season games.

The Twins announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Taj Bradley in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Griffin Jax.

Bradley, 24, has gone 6-6 with a 4.61 ERA (111.1 IP, 57 ER), 44 walks, 95 strikeouts and a .236 opponent batting average in 21 starts for the Rays this season. The Los Angeles, California native was selected by Tampa Bay in the fifth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Redan High School (GA), made his major league debut in 2023 and has gone 19-25 with a 4.70 ERA (354.0 IP, 185 ER), 130 walks, 378 strikeouts and a .242 opponent batting average in 69 career games (67 starts) over parts of three major league seasons, all with the Rays.

Jax, 30, appeared in 50 games for the Twins this season, going 1-5 with a 4.50 ERA (46.0 IP, 23 ER), 21 holds, 13 walks, 72 strikeouts and a .251 opponent batting average. The Phoenix, Arizona native was originally selected by the Twins in the third round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft and pitched in parts of five seasons for Minnesota, going 23-29 with a 4.06 ERA (336.2 IP, 152 ER), 15 saves, 86 holds, 96 walks and 378 strikeouts in 276 games (14 starts).

The Twins announced that they have acquired outfielder Alan Roden and left-handed pitcher Kendry Rojas in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for infielder Ty France and right-handed pitcher Louis Varland.

Roden, 25, has spent most of the season at Triple-A Buffalo, hitting .331 (40-for-121) with nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 18 RBI, 25 runs scored, 16 walks, a .423 on-base percentage, a .496 slugging percentage and a .918 OPS in 32 games. The 5-foot-11, 211-pound outfielder made his major league debut on Opening Day for Toronto and has played 43 games for the Blue Jays this season, hitting .204 (20-for-98) with five doubles, one triple, one home run, eight RBI, 12 runs scored and eight walks. The Middleton, Wisconsin native was selected by the Blue Jays in the third round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of Creighton University and has played in 298 career minor league games in Toronto’s organization, hitting .302 (333-for-104) with 68 doubles, seven triples, 30 home runs, 170 RBI, 206 runs scored, 165 walks, a .409 on-base percentage and an .866 OPS.

Rojas, 22, has split the season between Triple-A Buffalo, Double-A New Hampshire, Low-A Dunedin and the Florida Complex League Blue Jays, combining to go 1-3 with a 3.46 ERA (41.2 IP, 16 ER), nine walks, 62 strikeouts and a 1.13 WHIP in 11 games (10 starts). The Ciego de Avila, Cuba native was originally signed by the Blue Jays as a minor league free agent in October of 2020 and has spent five seasons in Toronto’s minor league system, appearing in 65 games (52 starts), going 10-14 with a 3.31 ERA (252.2 IP, 93 ER), 80 walks, 298 strikeouts, 1.17 WHIP and a 10.6 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings pitched ratio. He was named Easten League Pitcher of the Week on July 13, while pitching for New Hampshire and is the club’s fifth-ranked prospect, per MLB.com.

France, 31, hit .251 (88-for-350) with 19 doubles, six home runs, 44 RBI, 19 walks, 41 runs scored, one stolen base, a .320 on-base percentage and a .678 OPS in a team-leading 101 games for the Twins after signing a one-year contract in February.

Varland, 27, went 3-3 with a 2.02 ERA (49.0 IP, 11 ER), 13 walks, 47 strikeouts, 17 holds and a 1.10 WHIP in 51 relief appearances for the Twins this season. A 15th round selection by the Twins in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Concordia University, the North St. Paul native went 8-14 with a 4.62 ERA (192.2 IP, 99 ER), 52 walks, 188 strikeouts, 19 holds and a 1.31 WHIP in 89 games (22 starts) over parts of four seasons with Minnesota.

The Twins announced that they have acquired right-handed pitchers Sam Armstrong and Ryan Gallagher in a trade with the Chicago Cubs, in exchange for utility player Willi Castro.

Armstrong, 24, has gone 2-7 with a 4.62 ERA (89.2 IP, 46 ER), 31 walks, 72 strikeouts, a .250 opponent batting average and a 1.26 WHIP in 19 games (18 starts) for Double-A Knoxville this season. The Newton, New Jersey native was originally selected by the Cubs in the 13th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of Old Dominion University and has gone 9-14 with a 3.72 ERA (220.1 IP, 91 ER), 75 walks, 184 strikeouts, a .229 opponent batting average and a 1.18 WHIP in 55 games (39 starts) across parts of three minor league seasons.

Gallagher, 22, has gone 4-6 with a 3.43 ERA (84.0 IP, 32 ER), 20 walks, 96 strikeouts, a .220 opponent batting average and a 1.07 WHIP in 16 starts combined between High-A South Bend (14 starts) and Double-A Knoxville (2 starts) in his first professional season. A sixth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Gallagher is ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the Cubs’ system per MLB.com. The Sacramento, California native was named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week on May 11 after tossing 6.0 hitless innings with two walks and eight strikeouts on May 10 vs. Fort Wayne.

Castro, 28, played in 86 games for the Twins this season, hitting .245 (74-for-302) with 15 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 27 RBI, 32 walks, 48 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a .743 OPS. He was originally acquired by the Twins as a non-roster invite to spring training in 2023 and played 368 games over three seasons in Minnesota, hitting .250 (304-for-1218) with 64 doubles, 12 triples, 31 home runs, 121 RBI, 117 walks, 197 runs scored, 56 stolen bases and a .733 OPS.
