The Minnesota Twins announced that they have acquired catcher Enrique Jimenez in a trade with the Detroit Tigers, in exchange for right-handed pitchers Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak.

Jimenez, 19, played in 48 games for the rookie-level Florida Complex League Tigers this season, hitting .250 (42-for-168) with 10 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 32 RBI, 23 walks, 27 runs scored, a .339 on-base percentage, a .440 slugging percentage and a .779 OPS. The Barcelona, Venezuela native was signed by the Tigers as a minor league free agent in January of 2023 and has played parts of three seasons in Detroit’s system, hitting .255 (117-for-458) with 30 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs, 68 RBI, 75 walks, 73 runs scored, a .363 on-base percentage, a .413 slugging percentage and a .776 OPS in 137 games. The switch-hitting catcher is ranked as the Tigers’ 14th-best prospect, per MLB.com.

Paddack, 29, made 21 starts for the Twins this season, going 3-9 with a 4.95 ERA (111.0 IP, 61 ER), 27 walks, 83 strikeouts, a 1.28 WHIP, a .266 opponent batting average and five quality starts. The Austin, Texas native was originally acquired by the Twins via trade with San Diego on April 6, 2022, and appeared in 45 regular season games (43 starts) over parts of four seasons in Minnesota, going 10-14 with a 4.88 ERA (226.2 IP, 123 ER), 51 walks, 190 strikeouts and nine quality starts.

Dobnak, 30, has spent most of the 2025 season with Triple-A St. Paul and has appeared in 17 games (10 starts) for the Saints, going 1-7 with a 7.12 ERA (60.2 IP, 48 ER), 35 walks and 42 strikeouts. He made one relief appearance for the Twins earlier this season on March 30 at St. Louis, allowing one run on two hits in 5.1 innings pitched, with two walks and one strikeout. The South Park, Pennsylvania native was originally signed by the Twins in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of independent ball, and appeared in 39 regular season games (21 starts) over parts of five seasons in Minnesota, going 9-12 with a 4.47 ERA (140.2 IP, 76 ER) and two saves.

The Minnesota Twins announced they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin from Triple-A St. Paul.

Tonkin appeared in 18 games for the Saints this season, going 2-0 with a 4.82 ERA (28.0 IP, 15 ER), seven walks, 34 strikeouts and a 1.21 WHIP. Six of his last seven appearances for the Saints have been scoreless, posting a 1.93 ERA (9.1 IP, 2 ER) with 12 strikeouts since July 1. The 35-year-old pitched in 57 games for the Twins and Yankees in 2024, combining to go 4-4 with a 3.63 ERA (79.1 IP, 32 ER), two saves, 30 walks and 85 strikeouts.

To make room for Tonkin on the 26-man roster, the Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Travis Adams to St. Paul following Sunday’s game against the Washington Nationals. Adams made one appearance during his most recent stint with Minnesota, allowing five runs on five hits in 3.1 innings pitched, with two walks and three strikeouts while taking the loss yesterday afternoon vs. the Nationals.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Connor Gillispie for release or assignment. Gillispie, who was claimed off waivers from the Miami Marlins on June 23, appeared in four games (3 starts) for the Saints.
