The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Mick Abel on the 15-day Injured List with right elbow inflammation (retroactive to April 17).
Abel appeared in four games (3 starts) for the Twins this season, going 1-2 with a 3.98 ERA (20.1 IP, 9 ER), 10 walks and 23 strikeouts. The 24-year-old struck out a career-high 10 batters over 7.0 shutout innings in his last start on April 14 vs. Boston and has an active 14.0-inning scoreless streak.
The Twins will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow night’s game against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
