The Minnesota Twins announced that they have placed outfielder Matt Wallner on the Paternity List. Matt’s wife, Sydnie, gave birth to the couple’s first child this morning, a girl, named Elliotte Bryn.
Wallner has played in 74 games for the Twins this season, hitting .218 (51-for-234) with 11 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 27 RBI, 34 runs scored, 34 walks, a .325 on-base percentage, a .496 slugging percentage and an .821 OPS.
To replace Wallner on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled outfielder Carson McCusker from Triple-A St. Paul. McCusker, 27, has played in 87 games for the Saints this season, hitting .245 (78-for-319) with 19 doubles, 19 home runs, 61 RBI, 46 runs scored, 30 walks, a .316 on-base percentage, a .483 slugging percentage and a .799 OPS. This will mark McCusker’s second stint with the Twins after making his major league debut on May 18 at Milwaukee. In five games for the Twins from May 18-28, he went 1-for-6.
