The Minnesota Twins announced that they have reinstated catcher Ryan Jeffers from the 10-day Injured List.
Jeffers, who missed the club’s last 16 games on the Concussion Injured List, sustained the injury after multiple foul tips to the mask on September 4 vs. the Chicago White Sox. Jeffers has hit .262 (101-for-386) with 24 doubles, nine home runs, 44 RBI, 48 walks, 47 runs scored and a .747 OPS in 114 games for the Twins this season.
To make room for Jeffers on the 28-man roster, the Twins have optioned catcher Jhonny Pereda. Pereda played in 11 games for the Twins and hit .345 (10-for-29) with an .870 OPS. He will remain on the Taxi Squad for the remainder of the season (through Sunday, September 28).
