The Minnesota Twins announced they have reinstated utility player Willi Castro from the 10-day Injured List and returned infielder Royce Lewis from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day Injured List.
Castro, who was placed on the Injured List on April 24 with a right oblique strain, played in 18 games for Minnesota prior to sustaining the injury and hit .227 (15-for-66) with six doubles, one home run, five RBI, seven runs scored and three walks.
Lewis played in six games on rehab assignment for Triple-A St. Paul, going 4-for-23 with one double, one RBI and three runs scored. He has missed all 35 Twins games this season with a left hamstring strain, an injury he suffered in spring training on March 16, running out a ground ball to third base.
To make room for Castro and Lewis on the 26-man roster, the Twins optioned utility player Mickey Gasper and infielder Edouard Julien to St. Paul. Gasper played in seven games during his most recent stint with the Twins, hitting .250 (4-for-16) with one double, three RBI and four runs scored. Julien played in 29 games for the Twins, hitting .198 (18-for-91) with five doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, eight runs scored and 11 walks.
