The Minnesota Twins announced  that they have acquired outfielder James Outman from the Los Angeles Dodgers, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart.

Outman, 28, has spent a majority of the 2025 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, hitting .289 (82-for-284) with 20 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs, 74 RBI, 61 runs scored, 39 walks, 14 stolen bases, a .378 on-base percentage, a .592 slugging percentage and a .970 OPS in 70 games. He has also played in 22 games for the Dodgers, going 8-for-39 with one double, two home runs, four RBI, four walks and eight runs scored.

The Redwood City, California native was selected by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Sacramento State and has played parts of four seasons with Los Angeles (2022-25). During his one major league season in which he received regular playing time in 2023, he hit .248 (120-for-483) with 16 doubles, three triples, 23 home runs, 70 RBI, 86 runs scored, 68 walks, a .353 on-base percentage and a .790 OPS in 151 games. That season, he earned the National League Rookie of the Month Award for April, finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting and was named to the Baseball America 2023 Major League All-Rookie Team. Additionally, in that 2023 season, he ranked tied for seventh among all MLB outfielders in outs above average (9) and fielding run value (8). Defensively, Outman has played 205 career games in centerfield, 21 in leftfield and nine in rightfield.

Stewart has pitched in 39 games for the Twins this season, going 2-1 with a 2.38 ERA (34.0 IP, 9 ER), 11 walks and 41 strikeouts. The 33-year-old spent parts of three seasons in Minnesota’s bullpen after signing a minor league contract in July of 2022, going 4-1 with a 2.33 ERA (77.1 IP, 20 ER), one save, 30 walks and 100 strikeouts in 83 regular season appearances.

Outman has been optioned to Triple-A St. Paul.

The Twins have acquired left-handed pitcher Garrett Horn in a trade with the Texas Rangers, in exchange for left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe.

Horn, 22, has gone 0-3 with a 2.92 ERA (24.2 IP, 8 ER), six walks, 34 strikeouts, a .193 opponent batting average and an 0.93 WHIP in nine minor league starts this season between the Arizona Complex League Rangers and Low-A Hickory. A sixth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Liberty University, Horn made his professional debut in the ACL in May, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings with two walks and three strikeouts in his first outing, and most recently fanned a career-high seven batters in 4.0 innings on July 25 vs. Augusta. The Greensboro, North Carolina native is ranked as the No. 25 prospect in the Rangers’ system per Baseball America.

Coulombe, 35, appeared in 40 games (1 start) for the Twins this season, going 1-0 with a 1.16 ERA (31.0 IP, 4 ER), two saves, eight holds, nine walks, 31 strikeouts and a 0.97 WHIP, after signing with the club as a free agent in February. Over parts of four seasons with the Twins, the southpaw went 4-2 with a 2.24 ERA (80.1 IP, 20 ER), two saves, 10 holds, 28 walks, 76 strikeouts and a 1.16 WHIP in 81 games (2 starts).
