(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins acquired left-handed minor league pitcher Kevin Chapman from the Atlanta Braves last night in exchange for utility man Danny Santana. Minnesota had designated Santana for release or assignment on Friday. The 26-year old Santana is a career .266 hitter who has played extensively in center field and shortstop, but has also played the two other outfield positions as well second base and third base. Santana saw action with Minnesota from 2014-17. Chapman is 29-years old and failed to make the Braves’ roster in spring training. In nine relief appearances for Triple-A Gwinnett this season, he had no decisions and a 7.71 earned run average in 11-plus innings. Chapman pitched for the Houston Astros from 2013-16, going a combined 3-1 with one save and a 4.09 ERA in 58 relief appearances.
