Graduate Sophia Boman and senior Khyah Harper were named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s Scholar All-North/Central Region team as announced by the publication on Wednesday.
It marks the first time since 2018 Minnesota has had student-athletes earn the nod. Earlier this month, Boman and Harper were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans.
Alongside her success in the classroom, Harper also saw success on the field. The All-American forward was named the 2024 Big Ten Forward of the Year and to the All-Big Ten First Team. She is the first since April Bockin (2018) to earn forward of the year and is the third to earn the honor in Minnesota history. This season the Lino Lakes, Minn., native has made her mark in the ‘U’s’ record book as she ranks third in single-season goals (17), first in game-winning goals (6) and fifth in points (40).
This season, Boman grabbed All-Big Ten First Team honors. The defensive midfielder earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week accolades this season after scoring the game-winning goal over No. 11 Iowa. Notably, the senior captain finished a brace against South Dakota State and scored the game-tying goal to lead the Gophers past No. 3 seed South Carolina to their first Sweet 16 appearance in 14 years.
