U-of-M officials are asking the legislature for four million dollars, and plan to raise four million more from private donations, to repair the historic Glensheen mansion in Duluth. U-M-D student body President Mike Kenyanya says, “Glensheen is part of Minnesota history. Anyone who’s ever been up to Split Rock, Tettegouche, the Palisade Head — that highway, Chester Congdon paid for half of that.” Kenyanya says eight million dollars is needed to keep Glensheen from falling apart. 140-thousand people visited the historic estate last year.
