U-S House lawmakers are hearing from farmers in Northfield and vicinity today as they prepare to assemble a new Farm Bill in 2023. Dairy farmer Deborah Mills from Goodhue told Subcommittee Chair Cheri Bustos of Illinois and Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig that dairy farmers have experienced boom-and-bust for decades, triggered by supply and demand imbalance. “The Dairy Revitalization Plan is a growth management strategy that coordinates milk production growth among all dairy producers, to stabilize and improve prices for everyone,” she says.
Mills is urging lawmakers to include the Dairy Revitalization Plan in the 2023 Farm Bill. She says it’s not like a quota system, which is often viewed as overly restrictive.
