The U-S Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against a Twin Cities bank, alleging it engaged in discrimination against consumers based on race. The suit says KleinBank violated the Fair Housing Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act. The complaint alleges that from 2010 through at least 2015 the bank structured its residential mortgage lending business to avoid serving the needs of neighborhoods where a majority of residents were racial or ethnic minorities. KleinBank officials have not commented on the suit.
