Ambassador-designate Sam Heins
Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken are applauding the U-S Senate’s long-delayed vote to confirm Sam Heins as ambassador to Norway and Azita Raji as ambassador to Sweden. Klobuchar says “finally history has righted itself and we have a Minnesotan back in the embassy in Norway.” Klobuchar jokes that everyone should be “eating some lutefisk tonight to celebrate.” Norwegian Ambassador-designate Heins is an attorney who founded Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights and co-founded the Center for Victims of Torture. The U-S had been without an ambassador to Norway for over two years.
