The U-S Senate is moving forward with debate on legislation to replace Obamacare. The vote was 50-50, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking the tie. Before the vote, Minnesota Democrat Al Franken today warned his colleagues it will mean more people uninsured, end Medicaid as we know it and reinstitute lifetime limits on coverage. Franken says when he was campaigning at cafes, VFWs and bars in 2008, “There’d be a flyer up for a family that had gone bankrupt because someone had gotten sick…. Do we really, really want to go back to that?”
But Republican Senator John McCain, just diagnosed with brain cancer, urged both sides of the aisle to cooperate, saying for those who support Obamacare and for those who oppose it, something has to be done.
