U-S Supreme Court rejects GOP candidate’s request to delay U-S House election in 2nd Congressional District

October 27, 2020 By Bill Werner

The U-S Supreme Court has denied Republican candidate Tyler Kistner’s request to delay the U-S House election in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. The court battle was prompted by the September death of the Legal Marijuana Party’s candidate, Adam Weeks. Kistner said he was asking for the delay to ensure that every voice is heard — that each party has the opportunity to put up a candidate in the election. But his Democratic opponent, Congresswoman Angie Craig, said Kistner trails by nearly 20 points and was trying to put his political career over the people of Minnesota — adding that his case was rejected by three different courts.

Meanwhile the Star Tribune reports that four months before the Legal Marijuana Party’s candidate died, he told a close friend that Republicans recruited him to run as a third-party candidate to pull votes away from Democratic Congresswoman Craig. The Craig and Kistner campaigns both declined to comment.
