The latest numbers show union membership held steady in Minnesota in 2015 at just over 14 percent of the work force, with 363-thousand Minnesotans belonging to a union. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says while union membership rates increased slightly in North and South Dakota and dropped a bit in Iowa, union membership in Wisconsin plummeted from about 12 percent of the work force down to 8.3 percent. Among the factors, analysts say, is Governor Scott Walker’s move to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for most public employees.
