Officials in neighboring Wisconsin are trying to find out why the flu season is off to an early start, but Minnesota isn’t seeing that problem. Patsy Stinchfield, infection control director at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota says, “We monitor influenza positive tests throughout the whole year, and so we’re paying very close attention to that right now, and so far we’ve only seen one positive.”
But Stinchfield hastens to add that it’s not too early to get your flu shot. The state Health Department labels flu activity “sporadic” in Minnesota. Wisconsin has confirmed 19 cases with eight people hospitalized.
