Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau says she acknowledges “the pain and frustration that family and community members have following the fatal officer involved shooting on Saturday night” and she calls the killing of 40-year-old Justine Damond “a tragic death.” Several media outlets are identifying Mohamed Noor as the officer who shot and killed a woman Saturday night in south Minneapolis. The BCA is investigating after Noor and another officer arrived at the scene of a possible assault at around 11:30 pm. The Star Tribune reports that Noor was on the passenger side of a squad car when he fired, striking and killing. Damond, who is from Australia, had been living in Minneapolis and was engaged to be married next month.
