V.P. President Mondale backs Klobuchar in 2020 run for president

February 7, 2019 By Tasha Redel

Former Vice President Walter Mondale is backing a possible 2020 White House run by Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar. Mondale said Wednesday that Klobuchar is a much better candidate than he was when he lost his bid for president to incumbent President Ronald Reagan. Last month Mondale told MNN Klobuchar may be the most respected and popular public servant, alongside Hubert H. Humphrey in Minnesota.

“She’s got the touch, people like her. She gets things done. She pulls the public together. I think that’s what people are looking for, we’ve had enough of this shouting and divisiveness. We now have to get down and find common ground. If you want that common approach she’s the best there is.”

Klobuchar is planning to announce  Sunday afternoon  (1:30) on whether or not she will run for President in 2020. The event is being held at Boom Island Park on the East Bank of the Mississippi River just upstream of Nicollet Island.
