The National Football League has announced that the Minnesota Vikings will play the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 NFL Mexico Game, presented by
Banorte.

The game will be played on Sunday, Nov. 22 (Week 11), at Estadio Banorte. Kickoff will be 7:20 p.m. Mexico time.

The game is part of a multi-year commitment to playing games in Mexico City in 2026, 2027, and 2028. It will be the sixth regular-season game to be held in Mexico since 2005 and the first game to be played there since 2022.

“Mexico City is home to one of the most passionate and energetic fan bases in the NFL, and we’re excited to bring the 49ers experience back to our Faithful in Mexico,” said Al Guido, CEO of the San Francisco 49ers. “From fan activations to community initiatives, we’re looking forward to creating meaningful moments and leaving a lasting impact both on and off the field.”

“Welcoming the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers to Mexico City for their game at Estadio Banorte is a significant event for fans and for the future of global sporting experiences in our country,” said Chief Marketing Officer of Grupo Financiero Banorte Carla Juan Chelala. “At Banorte, we are proud to support both this iconic venue and two of the NFL’s most historic teams, reinforcing our commitment to bringing world-class events to millions of Mexicans, while also contributing to Mexico’s economic, cultural, and tourism growth.”

“We look forward to welcoming the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers to Mexico City to play in what will be an historic return to the Estadio Banorte in November,” said NFL Director General Arturo Olive. “Both the Vikings and 49ers are popular NFL franchises here in Mexico, with significant fanbases.

We are excited to create an incredible gameday experience for our fans here, while continuing to build the NFL’s presence across the 2026 season and beyond.”

The 2026 NFL Mexico game is one of nine international games to be played across four continents, seven countries and eight stadiums next season. Melbourne (Australia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), London (U.K.), Paris (France), Madrid (Spain), Munich (Germany) and Mexico City (Mexico) will all host international games in 2026 as part of the league’s long-term commitment to global expansion.

The 49ers are one of 10 teams that hold marketing rights in Mexico as part of the league’s Global Markets Program, an initiative that awards NFL clubs international marketing rights to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the U.S., through fan engagement, events and commercial opportunities. All 32 NFL teams participate in the program with rights across 22 markets.

The return of regular season NFL games in Mexico builds on the league’s history of playing five previous games at Estadio Banorte in 2005, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.

With 40 million fans of the NFL – the largest fanbase outside of the U.S. – and with an office in Mexico City since 1998, the league is focused on increasing year-round presence through fan engagement activities, NFL Flag development, community impact initiatives and growing the game at every level.

Flag football, the non-contact format of the game, will make its debut as an Olympic sport in Los Angeles 2028 (LA28). NFL Flag, the league’s official youth flag football program, launched in Mexico in 2000 and this year is projected to reach 3.3 million girls and boys nationwide.
