The Minnesota Vikings announced today they will not exercise the 2017 option on Running Back Adrian Peterson’s contract. Peterson will become an unrestricted free agent on Thursday, March 9th. In a statement, Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman calls Peterson “an important part of the Vikings organization” and says the team will continue to have conversations with Peterson’s representatives and “leave our future options open while determining what is best for both parties moving forward.” Peterson was drafted by the team in 2007.
