Vikings hosting “white out” Saturday vs. Giants

December 23, 2022 By Minnesota News Network

The Minnesota Vikings will host their Winter Whiteout game this Saturday, December 24, when the team takes on the New York Giants at noon. This will mark the first time in franchise history that the Vikings have worn white-on-white uniforms at home in the regular season.

The following elements will be seen throughout Saturday’s game:

Full Stadium Giveaway
Twin Cities Orthopedics will provide winter scarves in a full-stadium giveaway for all fans to be worn during the game.

Field Activations
The end zones and mid-field Norseman will be painted white to carry out the winter whiteout theme. Viktor, Minnesota Vikings Cheer, the Skol Line and the flag runners will also wear white themed uniforms.

Gjallarhorn
Minnesota Wild Left Wing Kirill Kaprizov will sound the Gjallarhorn. Kaprizov was originally drafted in the fifth round (135th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft. Kaprizov became the first player in NHL history to record three points, including an overtime goal in the first game of his career. He also is the first Wild player to score 100 points in one season. In 2021, he was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and in 2022 he played in the NHL All-Star game.

National Anthem
Soloist, composer and soulful bandleader, award-winning saxophonist Trey Daniels is an inspiration for his generation in jazz, funk, R&B and Hip Hop. Coming from Atlanta, Daniels’ music blends his experience and his captivating energy, creating beautiful soundscapes across genres. As part of eight-time Grammy award winner Anita Baker’s Farewell World Tour, Daniels was featured at the Monaco Jazz Fest, North Sea Jazz Fest, Montreux Jazz Fest and more. In addition, His very first single, 86th St., was listed on the Smooth Jazz Billboard Charts in 2017.

Halftime
At halftime, Kat Perkins and her band will perform holiday classics in celebration of the holiday season. Perkins, a native of Scranton, North Dakota, appeared on season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice,” where she was coached by Grammy award winner Adam Levine, and also travels overseas twice a year to perform for troops in the military.

U.S. Bank Hometown Hero
While working at a liquor store in Brooklyn Center, Ta Leia “Ace” Thomas saw a homeless man without shoes and proceeded to take off her favorite pair of shoes and give them to him in an act of kindness that was caught by store cameras and drew significant community coverage.

TCO Legends Connection
Tatum Everett will interview former Vikings running back and Ring of Honor member Chuck Foreman during the third quarter. Foreman was the 12th overall pick by the Vikings in the 1973 NFL Draft and played for the club from 1973-79. He was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1973, led the NFL in receptions (73) in 1975 and led the NFL in touchdowns in both 1974 and 1976. The five-time Pro Bowl running back tallied 1,533 carries for 5,887 rushing yards as a Viking, both of which are the third-most in franchise history, and earned several All-Pro honors in his career.
