Vikings to play in London on October 2nd

May 5, 2022 By Minnesota News Network

As part of the NFL’s international games series, the Minnesota Vikings will return to the United Kingdom in 2022, this time to face the New Orleans Saints at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, October 2. Kickoff is set for 8:30 a.m. CT.

The neutral-site game, one of five international NFL games in 2022, will mark the Vikings third London game in the last 10 seasons and the team’s first at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fans interested in tickets or travel packages can sign up at Vikings.com/London to receive more information when it becomes available.

The Vikings are 2-0 in regular season London games, the first a 34-27 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley Stadium in 2013 and the second a 33-16 win over the Cleveland Browns at Twickenham Stadium in 2017. The Vikings have played six total international games – four exhibition and two regular season – and have recorded a perfect 6-0 record

“We are thrilled to once again represent the NFL on a global level and to have an opportunity to play in front of our international fans,” said Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf. “With our previous London games in 2013 and 2017 and our successful 2021 bid to land the United Kingdom as an international home marketing area, we have seen tremendous international support. This is another chance to directly engage with Vikings fans across the world and bring exposure to Minnesota’s impressive business community and tourism industry.”

The 2022 NFL season will feature five international games in three countries (England, Germany, Mexico), including the league’s first-ever regular season game in Germany. Thirty NFL London Games have now been played with 31 of the 32 NFL teams having participated in a London Game. The Green Bay Packers will be the 32nd and final team to play in London in 2022. The UK fan base includes more than 14 million people with a combined Super Bowl audience of over 4 million.

Beginning this year, all 32 clubs will play internationally at least once every eight years. As part of the expansion to 17 regular season games, it was determined that up to four of the teams from the conference eligible for a ninth regular season home game would instead be designated to play a neutral-site international game each year.
