Deputy Steven Sandberg
(Aitkin, MN) — Visitation for slain Aitkin County Deputy Steven Sandberg is this afternoon (Thurs) from 2 to 7 p-m at Aitkin United Methodist Church and is open to the public. Deputy Sandberg’s funeral is tomorrow (Fri) at 11 a-m at Aitkin High School, and although seating is limited, the public is welcome. Following the funeral, two processions will make their way south on Highway 169, then west on County Road 11 to Bennettville Cemetery. During the cemetery service a bell will be rung 24 times, once for each year of Deputy Sandberg’s law enforcement experience. That will be followed by a fly-over, weather permitted, and last call will then go out for Deputy Sandberg.
