Officials from the National Eagle Center in Wabasha were at the Minnesota Capitol this week, asking lawmakers for 10.2 million dollars in state bonding money to acquire more live eagles, expand exhibits and educational programs, and improve the nearby waterfront. Executive Director Rolf Thompson contends the Eagle Center is a statewide resource. “Our visitors and membership come from every corner of the state. Minnesotans not only like to visit the National Eagle Center, they believe in supporting us with their philanthropic dollars,” Thompson says.
The Eagle Center is among hundreds of projects vying for limited dollars as state lawmakers begin assembling a bonding bill.
