The Minnesota Twins announced that they have placed outfielder Matt Wallner on the 10-day Injured List with a right oblique strain (retroactive to September 18).
Wallner, who was removed from Wednesday night’s game against the New York Yankees with the injury, hit .202 (68-for-336) with 16 doubles, three triples, 22 home runs, 40 RBI, 47 runs scored and a .776 OPS in 104 games for the Twins this season, setting single-season career highs in home runs, runs scored, games played and walks (46).
To replace Wallner on the 28-man roster, the Twins have recalled outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul. Keirsey Jr. has hit .250 (35-for-140) with 11 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 23 RBI, 17 walks, seven stolen bases, 23 runs scored and a .771 OPS in 36 games for the Saints this season. This is his fourth stint with the Twins this year, going 9-for-82 with two home runs, six RBI, two walks, nine stolen bases and 11 runs scored in 70 games.
