Governor Tim Walz is highly critical of the Trump administration rolling back Obama-era fuel efficiency standards for automobiles. Walz says a vast majority of Americans want tighter standards, plus economists say it will make a difference. “So in the midst of all of this to roll us back, away from every other industrialized nation and… setting us backwards on climate change just doesn’t make any sense to me,” he says. Walz adds if the federal government won’t lead on fuel-efficiency standards, Minnesota will.
It’s expected President Trump will argue the new rules will help an economy hurt by the coronavirus pandemic.
